For me, being a coach is a way to “pay it forward” and help others get fit and improve their quality of life. In addition to coaching at PPF, I volunteer for the Phoenix Organization where I coach CrossFit to individuals recovering substance use issues.
I was introduced to CrossFit in 2020 as PPF client #2. Before that, I followed the yo-yo fitness routine – over training to meet a short-term goal, losing motivation and going back to square one. I also had a really unhealthy relationship with food. Almost immediately I recognized CrossFit as a way to combine all of the things I love about being an athlete; the competition, the community, the intensity, the fun and the skill. But I also recognized it focused on mechanics to build a better foundation for a healthier life that would benefit me well into the future. To me, fitness is all about having fun. Getting stronger is fun, moving faster is fun, and pushing others to be their best is fun. If you have fun doing something, you’ll come back again and again, and that is what CrossFit is all about. I earned my CF L2 in 2024. I have also competed in a few competitions, including the Masters Fitness Championship 50-54 age group - proving it’s never too late to start and this stuff really is for everyone. Outside of the gym, I like to travel, spend time with my dog, and go to shows with my husband, Rick. |
